If the member purchases C2C in Year 1 and does not go back to "renew" in Year 2 and gets dropped on Dec. 1, do they "lose" their $50 and have to pay again to renew?

Why did SWE create this membership program?
Surveys show that many SWE members find SWE membership valuable from the beginning of her engineering studies into her professional career.  However, different aspects of being a SWE member are most valued at different phases of her collegiate/early professional career.  Because Collegiate members are not always aware of all the benefits/resources SWE provides, many drop SWE membership rather than continue into new phases. This membership program allows Collegiate members to remain active in – and benefit from – SWE throughout their Collegiate career.

How does this program support the SWE mission?
The Collegiate to Career (C2C) membership program supports our mission and provides value in many aspects by:

  • Supporting larger numbers of women in engineering studies through SWE membership.
  • Increasing the number of Collegiate members, which would provide a larger voice on issues, more volunteers to plan larger and stronger programs, and an organization more attractive to sponsors and advertisers.

Who can qualify for the C2C program?
The Collegiate to Career (C2C) membership program offering will be bounded as follows:

  • This offering is limited to individuals, at any point in their academic career, who meet the requirements for Collegiate membership.
  • This offering cannot be combined with other reduced dues programs such as joint membership.

Is a C2C membership right for me?
If you plan to be a collegiate member (undergrad or grad student) for at least two more years then it is.

Why are C2C members required to renew?
The C2C program members are required to renew each year to ensure that:

  • Member information remains updated in order to get all correspondence.
  • Artificial inflation of collegiate sections is prevented.
  • Renewal shows that member is still interested in receiving SWE correspondence.

When will sections receive rebates from a C2C member? How much will they be?
Sections will receive rebates as a percentage of the amount of dues revenue received from a C2C member each year. In other words, the section will have a rebate on the $50 dues payment in the year the payment is made and then will not receive a future rebate.  The rebate percentage is not changing.

Will professional sections get a rebate from the 1 year as a professional member?
No. The collegiate section will receive the rebate on the $50 dues payment in the year the payment is made and then will not receive a future rebate.

What if I forget to renew?
If the individual does not renew by December, then the individual will be deemed inactive.

If the member purchases C2C in Year 1 and does not go back to "renew" in Year 2 and gets dropped on Dec. 1, do they "lose" their $50 and have to pay again to renew?
An individual deemed inactive, who needs to activate again after a period of time, will be charged a nominal amount.
