Membership FAQHow can I receive a membership application?You can now apply online as well as by downloading an application form. What is the cost of SWE Membership?Membership dues are $100.00 annually. Dues for full time students are $20 annually. Dues are reduced by 50% (to $50.00), for members who are unemployed, or retired (and not employed). The SWE fiscal year begins July 1 to June 30 of the following year. Dues are prorated 50% (to $50.00 or $25.00) for applicants submitting memberships between January 1 and April 30th. Proration is not applied to student memberships. Applicants are also required to submit a $20 application fee (except student applicants and those upgrading). This fee is non-refundable. Allow 1-2 weeks for processing. When will my dues expire?The fiscal year of the Society July 1st to June 30th. All membership dues, therefore, expire June 30th. You will receive two reminders to renew your membership by July 1st. Those members who have not renewed are no longer considered a member and must reapply. What form of payment will SWE accept?SWE accepts money orders, personal checks, Visa, Master Card, Discover and American Express. Checks should be made payable to SWE, in US dollars. Please do NOT send cash. How do I submit my application?

We are also available by: Why does the SWE application request so much information?Most of the information requested assists SWE in understanding the applicants qualifications so that they may be assigned the highest membership grade possible. SWE set a standard to become the resource on women in engineering. We updated our database to allow us to gather related statistical data of this kind. The statistical data is optional and is indicated as such. Applicants do need to complete all other information as it applies. Why does it take so long to process my application?There are several factors to take into consideration when processing new applicants. Please allow 6-8 weeks for your application to process. How can I change my Section/MAL assignments?A member CANNOT change their Section/MAL Assignment Online. Section/MAL assignments are changed by HQ STAFF ONLY.
