The Society of Women Engineers strives to advance and honor the contributions of women at all stages of their careers as well as recognize the successes of SWE members and individuals who enhance the engineering profession through contributions to industry, education and the community.

Individual Awards Overview

Award      
Overview
Achievement Award The highest award given by the Society of Women Engineers. Bestowed for an outstanding contribution over a SIGNIFICANT period of time in a field of engineering.
Upward Mobility Award Celebrates an individual’s rise to success and contribution to the decision-making process within her organization. This award is sponsored by Northrop Grumman Corporation.
Resnik Challenger Medal  Established to honor SWE’s Dr. Judith A. Resnik, NASA Mission Specialist on the Challenger space shuttle flight. Awarded as merited for visionary contributions to space exploration.
Rodney D. Chipp Memorial Award 

Celebrates the work of a man or company who has made a significant contribution to the acceptance and advancement of women in engineering.

Distinguished Engineering Educator Award 

Presented to a woman who has made significant contributions to the engineering profession through education.

Distinguished New Engineer Awards 

Honors women engineers who have been actively engaged in engineering in the first 10 years of their careers.

Fellow Grade Member Honor conferred on SWE members "in recognition of continuous service to the advancement of women in the engineering profession."
Distinguished Service Awards

Recognizes members who have made significant contributions in areas not recognized by other SWE individual awards.

Entrepreneur Award

Honors an individual whose independent path to create an engineering, scientific or technology-based business serves as inspiration to other women.

Work Life Balance Award 

Celebrates an individual who has worked to create programs that help women engineers and other employees balance the commitments of career, life and family. This award is sponsored by Honeywell International Inc.

Emerging Leader Awards 

Honors future leaders in the areas of Academia, Manufacturing and Construction, Procurement/Logistics, Product Research (sponsored by Intel), Design and Engineering (sponsored by Intel), Quality, Safety, Health and Environment, Sales and Marketing, and Systems Engineering (sponsored by Booz Allen Hamilton).

Collegiate Member Awards The Collegiate Member Awards are bestowed upon SWE collegiate members with at least 2 years of SWE membership, who have made an outstanding contribution to SWE the engineering community, and their campus.  A maximum of five (5) awards will be given annually.
Outstanding Faculty Advisor Celebrates an outstanding contribution by a SWE advisor to a SWE collegiate section.
Outstanding SWE Counselor Celebrates an outstanding contribution by a SWE leader/counselor to a SWE collegiate section.
