Invent It. Build It. K-12 Outreach
The Society of Women Engineers (SWE), Girl Scouts, WGBH's Design Squad Nation, and the ExxonMobil Foundation have teamed up for the 5th annual Invent It. Build It. event. Our theme this year is A Global Exchange for Change.

Experience the Creativity of Engineering

The best way to learn about something is to jump in and experience it—which is exactly what Invent It. Build It. is all about! Invent It. Build It. is divided into three programs:

1. SWE Girls Program for girls in grades 6-8
2. Parent/Educator Program (PEP) for adult advocates
3. EXPO for everyone else

All girls registered for the SWE Girls Program will participate in a hands-on engineering experience with members of the Society of Women Engineers. While the girls are having fun building and inventing, parents and educators will learn about engineering careers, scholarships, college admission and resources. Both groups will learn about engineering clubs, camps, after-school programs and competitions from a wide variety of exhibitors at the Invent It. Build It. EXPO. After the SWE Girls and Parent Educator Program have walked through the EXPO we will open the doors to everyone else.

SWE-UH Engineering Day Outreach Section Outreach Event
The Engineering Day Outreach Program aims to provide exposure and awareness of careers in engineering to middle school female students. This is accomplished through first-hand experience and enriching educational experiences that help them envision, create and fulfill career aspirations. Our program is geared towards local middle school female students who are unfamiliar with the different engineering disciplines. The program is directed by Society of Women Engineers- University of Houston Chapter.
Participating students will have the opportunity to work on hands-on engineering based projects. This will enable them to become familiar with different engineering discipline and build a skill base.
